The adopted families program has allowed me to both interact and build a lasting relationship with a young adult family within FBC. Through that I’ve been able to subtly catch glimpses of what walking with Jesus is like during that stage of life. It is without a doubt one of my favorite things that we do here at FCM.

What is the Adopted Families program?

It’s a way for families at FBC to “adopt” a college student, to facilitate community and fellowship across our church.

What are the expectations for families and for students?

For Students: If you decide to sign up to have an adopted family, you will be expected to intentionally spend time with your family at least two times a semester. Families might ask you to come over to their house for dinner, meet up for coffee, or grab breakfast before class!

Potential Parents: If you decide to sign up to be an adopted family for one (or more!) of our college students, you would be expected to intentionally spend time with your students at least three times a semester. Students in the program just want to get to know you! They would love to come over to your house for dinner, meet up for coffee, or grab breakfast before class!

If I want to get involved, what’s my next step?

Students: Fill out the form geared to you below, and RSVP to our Sunday, November 4 Adopted Families Kickoff Lunch after the 11:00am main service. At the lunch you will have an opportunity to meet families who are interested in adopting a college student. You can still participate in the program even if you can’t make the lunch, but we would love to see you there!
